Nigerians have been assured
of accountability and fairness when bailing an arrested suspect from police
custody.
The assurance was given at
the official launch of `BAIL IS FREE` campaign flagged-off by the
inspector-General of police and replicated by the Oyo state police command on
Thursday in Ibadan.
At the occasion, the 21c Area
Commander for Agodi Command, CSP SULEIMAN ISHOLA said that the campaign is
targeted at changing the negative perception of the entire populace towards the
way Nigerian Police Force handle bail processes.
Also speaking at the event,
the Oyo state Police Commissioner, Mr. ABIODUN ODUDE noted that any police
officer caught requesting or collecting money for bail will be adequately
punished.
